Though this post is self-contained, it is part of a bigger ‘story’ that begins here…
My LivingBluPrints Project was born when I began to blog about my experience with various systems that were helping me improve aspects of my life. It had gotten to a point where the *abundance* (of commitments, clutter, to dos, etc.) had overwhelmed my ability to remember what I wanted for myself; life had become so crowded, there was no room for the growth and change for which I was desperate.
Your LivingBluPrints Project might not be as dramatic – your experiences might not as littered with ‘seeker’ behavior – but I would guess there is at least one thing in your life that you’d like to change, grow, or enhance.
A LivingBluPrints Project can help you create a foundation upon which to build and execute your BEST life. Not with the burden of overwhelm, but with energy and positive commitment. You have within yourself the power to identify unique sources of strength. In fact, your biggest challenge (or your biggest drain) might hold within it solutions to enable substantial growth.
Know that time is on your side on this. There is benefit to the fact that real change and growth don’t happen instantly; instant gratification doesn’t often go hand in hand with lasting result. There is certainly no such thing as instant success.
And with time – there is a tipping point that gives way to incredible ease. When you start any new practice, the new ‘ways of being’ are burdensome [it’s a pain to have financial budget meetings and argue with your spouse and realize there is no more money in the grocery envelope; and planning a week’s worth of healthy meals, then shopping and executing IS a lot of work – especially when you might be coming from making regular ‘mealtime decisions’ based on a drawer-full of take-out menus]. Transitions are in NO way an easy thing. But with TIME, we get better and better. Remember any proficiency we now have probably took a lot of practice. Even the most talented musicians practice and practice! And with TIME, the new ways of being become second nature and allow a flow.
In some cases, the practices are the regular widdling away of some form of clutter. The clutter might be debt, or weight, or a messy house. One begins to take small steps to eliminate debt, lose weight, or gain control of household organization. None of these can be conquered instantly (remember we talked about that here – and about why it isn’t in fact what we want).
As you perform regular specific practices you might almost suddenly realize a new ease – freedom in all aspects of your life. You will have developed processes that REALLY work for you. You are undoing many many years of ‘other’ conditioning – it’ll take time before the *better* alternative is the automatic action. In the meantime, set yourself up for success – build in the practices that will help you make change easier.
And finally, notice how your practices affect those around you. Be ready for others to be inspired by you, and for some to criticize. When surrounded by naysayers, turn the focus back to them (protect your passions); remember compassion and what you really want for you. And welcome the support from those who have achieved similar pursuits – these people will surely be the wind in your sails!
And so I ask: What would you like to change, grow, or enhance?
